Xin Fang

Qualcomm

Xin is currently a senior R&D engineer at Qualcomm working on the 5G modem. He got his Ph.D. majoring in computer engineer at Northeastern University in 2017. He has been working on computer arithmetic operations on hardware, hardware security and countermeasures, and heterogeneous computing system. The area includes computer arithmetic; hardware security and heterogeneous computing system using FPGA overlays. For computer arithmetic, an open source variable precision floating point library called VFLOAT is introduced for general FPGAs; for hardware security, he did the side channel analysis and countermeasure on FPGA for security primitives including SHA-3; for heterogeneous computing system, a system named SIFO is introduced which takes advantage of FPGA as an accelerator and compiler technology for the host to accelerate a secure function evaluation scheme (Garbled Circuits) in the data center. He has been actively review papers of conferences such as FPGA(2012-2018), FCCM(2014-2017), HEART(2016-2018), Reconfig(2016-2017), COSADE(2017-2018) and Journals such as IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, ACM Transactions on Architecture and Code Optimization, ACM Transactions on Reconfigurable Technology and Systems, Journal of Hardware and Systems Security, etc.
