Biography: Athanasios Koutras was born on 11 of November 1973 in Athens, Greece. In 1996 he received his Diploma of Electrical and Computer Engineer from the Polytechnic School of Patras and his PhD Diploma in 2001 from the same Department. His PhD Thesis title was "Blind speech separation and speech recognition in a multisimultaneous speaker environment". Since 2003, after having served the Greek Army he had worked with the Technical Educational Institute of Patras (now named Western Greece) as an Adjunct Professor until 2008 and since then as an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Informatics and Mass Media. His teaching experience includes the area of Digital Sound and Image Processing. He has also worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Cultural Management & New Technologies of University of Ioannina from 2005-2008. Since 2008 he holds a position as a Visiting Professor at the Medical School of Patras, Department of Physiology, NeuroPhysiology Unit. He has worked as a researcher in more than 10 R&D Projects with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineer at the University of Patras as well as the Medical School of Patras in collaboration with the RIKEN Institute in Japan (Human Brain Dynamics Lab). He is the author of more than 30 research scientific papers in journals as well as Conference Proceedings in the area of Digital Signal Processing, Biomedical Signal Processing, Blind Source Separation, Speech Recognition, Pattern Recognition, EEG and MEG data analysis. He is currently a member of IEEE, ENNS, ISCA and TCG and the Editor in Chief of the Advances in Signal Processing Journal, of the HRPUB.
