Abstract: The overlap of perceptual hashing technologies with blockchain is an interesting answer to strengthen copyright protection of sound in decentralized networks. As the music society still has to endure attacks on unauthorized duplication and transformation of online content, traditional security does not hold water. Perceptual hashing bridges the gap, creating unique digital fingerprints that are resistant to small-scale modifications, to allow detection of copyright piracy even in edited audio content. When combined with the immutable nature of blockchain and the smart contract functionality, such a new framework not only guarantees ownership verification but also does licensing procedures automatically, thereby doing away with the need for intermediaries. The proposed method addresses the issues of the state-of-the-art methods and performs well under various conditions.
