Management of Privacy When Photos and Videos are Stored or Shared

Extensive research has been conducted in the technical side by managing privacy using mechanisms such as encryption, passwords, etc. However, the core issues of privacy are not addressed. This is particularly evident when photos and videos are shared via social media. The main problem is that the actual meaning of privacy is difficult to define. Though there are definitions of privacy and acts defined to protect it but there is no clear consensus as to what ‘privacy’ actually means. It is quite often challenging to manage as it is an ill-defined concept. This research is motivated by the question of what privacy means with in relation to photos and videos and methods have been used to obtain a crowd truth and arrive at a general consensus. The outcome of this research is to develop a conceptual framework of privacy, particularly for sharing photos and video content when using social media.
