Ganesh Chandra Sahoo

Biography

He has completed his M. Tech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. He has completed his Ph.D. in Virology and Viral Bioinformatics from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Then He has joined the scientist post in Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS) (ICMR institute) since 2007. He has presently working as scientist in RMRIMS, Patna. He is working in the area of bioinformatics, drug design, virology and nanomedicine projects of ICMR. He is also guiding NIPER M. Pharm and Ph. D pharmaco-informatics students. I have already guided more than fifty M. Tech/M. Pharm students in the area of drug discovery, database design, virology, nanotechnology. He has screened millions of compounds against Leishmania species to predict novel antileishmanial inhibitors. He is Reviewer and Editorial Board Member of Various International Journals related to bioinformatics, he has also published books related to bioinformatics and drug discovery. He is member of various national and International Scientific Societies such as Society of Biological Chemists(SBC), American Society of Microbiology(ASM). He has published widely in international journals and conferences related to different viruses causing diarrhea such as Rotavirus, Astrovirus, Calicivirus, Kala-azar, and Cancer. He has visited USA for his presentation on Diarrhea causing Rotaviruses in India. He is also Co-investigator for various national and international projects. His main research interest lies in Drug Design and Drug Discovery against various human diseases such as Kala azar, emerging viral diseases such as encephalitis, including in the areas of Database Systems and Software Engineering.
