Biography: Mohd Azri Mohd Izhar received his M.Eng. degree in electrical engineering (communications) from the University of Sheffield, U.K., in 2008 where he received the Mappin medal award for outstanding academic performance and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) prize for the best communications-related final year project. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia, in 2014. Since 2014, he has been a senior lecturer with the UTM Kuala Lumpur campus. On leave from UTM, he visited the Southampton Wireless Group at the University of Southampton, U.K. for 2 years in 2015. In 2019, he was appointed as a research fellow for 1.5 years at the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP), University of Surrey, U.K. His current research interests include channel coding, coding theory, joint source-channel coding, coded modulation, cooperative communications, quantum communications and 3D audio processing.
