Dr. Thomas Kuhn received his German Diplom degree in Computer Science from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 2004, his PhD degree in 2009. Since 2008, he has been working at the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE in Kaiserslautern, Germany, in the Embedded Systems division. He has headed numerous large research and industry projects, including BaSys 4.0, a project aimed at developing an open-source middleware for Industrie 4.0 production systems based on digital twins. From 2014 to 2017, he was head of the Embedded Software Engineering department, which focuses on the development and virtual validation of embedded software and E/E architectures. Since October 2017, he is head of the superordinate Embedded Systems division. His focus in software engineering are virtual technologies for the development and evaluation of software and system architectures.
