Dr Shabnam Sadeghi Esfahlani is an Associate Professor in Mechatronics and AI at the School of Engineering and the Built Environment, Anglia Ruskin University, UK. Shabnam is a Chartered Engineer, Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy, and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). In 2012 she received her PhD in Mechanical Engineering, followed by two years of Post Doc research: "Fire and Bulletproof laminated glazing and patent number; P11826 GB". Shabnam joined HEA in 2014 as a Lecturer, was elevated to a Senior Lecturer position in 2017, and in 2021 promoted to Associate Professor. During her professional career, she has focused on all aspects of academic, research, and university-wide activities. Shabnam has been involved in several national and international funded projects. She presented her research at various international conferences and published more than thirty-three high-quality journal and conference articles. She is the guest editor of the Special Issue "Recent Trends in AI Robots" of Machines Journal. A reviewer board member in Sensors journal, Review Editor on the Editorial Board of Pattern Recognition Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence).
