Dr. S. M. Mizanoor Rahman worked as a research fellow at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He then worked at Vrije University of Brussels, Belgium as a postdoctoral researcher sponsored by the European Commission under the 7th framework. During his position in Belgium, Dr. Rahman collaborated with several universities in Belgium, Germany, and Spain. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Clemson University, SC, USA, and also actively collaborated with BMW Manufacturing Co., SC, USA. Dr. Rahman then worked as a postdoctoral associate at the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department and an instructor at the Center for K-12 STEM Education of New York University (NYU), NY, USA. During his above research positions, Dr. Rahman mentored more than 20 Master’s and 10 Ph.D. students for their research projects, and led the implementation of more than $3M NSF-funded projects. After that, Dr. Rahman joined Tuskegee University, AL, USA as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering, and taught several courses to undergraduate students, supervised undergraduate research, and secured research grant from an external agency as the principal investigator. Dr. Rahman joined UWF in January 2019 as an assistant professor for the Ph.D. program in Intelligent Systems and Robotics at the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. At UWF, Dr. Rahman significantly contributes to the development and establishment of the Ph.D. program in Intelligent Systems and Robotics and directs the Human-friendly and Interactive Robotics Laboratory (HIR Lab). Dr. Rahman has published more than 100 papers in different renowned journals, conference proceedings, and books that received about 600 citations. Dr. Rahman’s research work appeared in highly impactful journals such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and top-tier conferences such as IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA). Dr. Rahman received two best paper awards/honors from two IEEE conferences and a postdoctoral appreciation award in the form of a travel award from the American National Postdoctoral Association. Dr. Rahman serves as a reviewer of many top-rated journals published by IEEE and Elsevier, and conference proceedings published by IEEE. Dr. Rahman serves in the editorial board of the Journal Smart Science (Section: Smart Manufacturing-CPS, IoT, AI) published by Taylor & Francis, UK. Dr. Rahman is a member of the ASME, ASEE, IEEE and the New York Academy of Sciences.
