Biography: Dr. Ali Ismail Awad is currently an Associate Senior Lecturer at Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering, Lulea University of Technology, Sweden. He received his B.Sc. from Al Azhar University, Egypt, 2001, the M.Sc. degree from the Minia University, Egypt, 2007, and the Ph.D. degree from Kyushu University, Japan, 2012. He is meanwhile working on his second Ph.D. degree from Minia University, Egypt. He worked as a research and teaching assistant in the area of communication networks at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain, in the period from 2008 to 2009. He has published several papers in peer-reviewed international journals and peer-reviewed international conference proceedings. He also served as a technical program committee member and reviewer in many worldwide conferences including IEEE ICIIP-2013, ICCSPA'13, AMLTA'12 and IEEE CSPA 2012; and he serves as an external reviewer in many international journals including COMNET, JKSU-CIS, IAJIT and IJACSA. Furthermore, he serves as a guest editor in IJCVIP. He is responsible for organizing special sessions, workshops and journal special issues. His research interests include Biometrics Technologies, Pattern Recognition and Communication Networks. He is currently an ACM student member, SIGCOMM and SIGSAG member, IEEE member, COMSOC, IEEE Computer and IEEE SPS member.
